Everyone knows the story of the Waffle sole, in which the Bill Bowerman introduced rubber and waffle iron to each other. The Bowerman household lost a breakfast appliance, but the world gained a legendary shoe. That's why, decades later, the comparatively simple design of the Waffle Racer is still emblematic of Nike's innovative spirit.
The Waffle Racer 2X revamps the classic look with contemporary style in mind. The standard nylon upper becomes layered ripstop, with stitch outline Swoosh branding providing an experimental, work in progress feel, while a thicker foam midsole and exaggerated outsole lugs bring an updated visual sensibility to classic features of the original.
